THE WARDROBE VOL. 8 Night Clothing Market

15 Apr

An absolute must for any fashion lover  is this 2nd hand & vintage clothing market. Every first Saturday of the month, Platoon Kunsthalle opens it’s doors for  ‘The Wardrobe’. Not only does the market offer a great selection of vintage and second hand clothing, a full bar a dj , cheap hairstyles but also there are some great bargains to be had. The prices may be attractive but so are the clothes, as you can buy  everything from cool one offs to vintage Chanel or Prada and all of a decent quality.

Exhibition – Dots, Lines & Me

14 Mar
13.03.2013
Yesterday I went to see an exhibition at the
Polnisches Institut Berlin called Dots, Lines & Me
by artist Paweł Zawiślak's aka Kropki Kreski
I really enjoyed seeing his work, I even took home a poster,
which is now hanging in my Kitchen.
"‘Dots Lines‘ may suggest the use of simple, clean lines
and plain dots but the portfolio shows that his work is
evidently something different.Color, form, technique,
communication – it seems to have no limits,
not only in terms of implementation but also in the
selection of topics, whether in fashion and lifestyle
magazines, such as the renowned Vice, Viva!, Gala, or in
cooperation with well-known brands and designers such
as Converse, Orska or Polygon.
Every commissioned work and illustration meets other
requirements, submits to the particular circumstances
and at the same time retains their sovereignty through
specially chosen techniques"
(description extract taken from Polnische Institue fb page)
The exhibition runs until the 16th of May 2013 at
the Polnische Institute,
Burgstraße 27, 10178 Berlin

Block Party

15 May

We had lots of fun at the Block Party last Saturday. The Block Party is basically what it says a Party on the Block. Different Designer Boutiques including;
BAERCK, BRILLENSCHNEIDEREI YVES, BUTTERFLYSOULFIRE AW11, DIX-SEPT, F.RAU BOUTIQUE, HECKING, LALA BERLIN FLASH STORE, LE COUP and YUU, were celebrating an evening of fashion, music and fun between Gormannstrasse – Mulackstrasse and SteinStrasse on Saturday the 12th from 6pm. There was music by Dj’s Face & Faddy /Jochen Voller , lots of free booze and fashionable people dancing till their heart was content. Well that was until the police came and shut the whole thing down at 9.30. Half an hour before curfew, SPOILSPORTS!!

Anyway we had a great time and can’t wait until the next time. We had so much fun we forgot to take more pictures, but here a few from the evening and a shaky mobile video.

Boooooo!!

One gorgeous fashionista who enjoyed the party was Merle Winter a designer from Berlin

Pret A Diner, Berlin

20 Jan

A dining experience not to be missed! Pret a Diner is a food and lifestyle concept that pops up in various cities, including Berlin, London, Munich and Frankfurt. The Diner locations are usually in unconventional buildings or spaces such as, old cinemas or on the roof of a skyscraper for example. Pret A Diner is now back in Berlin at the ‘Alte Münze’ at the Kroegel 2.  The ‘Alte Münze‘ is a  former state mint, where various German currencies from the Reichsmark to the Euro were printed.

The location, concept and high quality of food provide an unforgettable experience. An exclusive evening, attendance is via invitation only, so if you fancy trying to snap up  one of the hottest tickets in the city, visit the website and send ‘Pret A Diner’ an email at : http://www.pretadiner.com/inthemix/index.php

Be quick though, Pret a Diner will close down again and relocate somewhere else by the 20th Feb. 2012

Yum Yum- Dim Sum

10 Jan

After seeing a link on ‘Mitteschoen’ we took ourselves to YUMCHAHEROES for some Dim Sum. It is  home to the finest homemade Chinese Dumplings. Truly delicious, we tucked into some crispy  Lamb dumplings, Baozi ( minced pork and ginger, served with pak choi) and some steamed beef dumplings and 2 Tsintao Beer. The bill came to 22.50 Euro, which was reasonable enough for a nice, quick dinner for two in a lovely atmosphere. Apart from Chinese  dumplings  fried or steamed they also serve dumpling soups, Yumcha Rolls (homemade rolls made of dough and fresh fillings) and bigger plates, such as Chicken meatballs, steamed silk tofu and Noug-me-ji (sticky rice in a lotus leaf with shrimp, chinese sausage, shitake and coriander.  If you are a bit hungrier, their big plates include Giant black tiger prawns, Jacobs’ chicken, pink duck and a tofu dish. View full menu here : http://yumchaheroes.com/

If you don’t fancy anything alcoholic you can also go for a healthy but tasty option of Yumcha Tea Flowers – finest hand tied Chinese tea flowers which open up in your glass to reveal a beautiful flower –Awww

..Still not convinced? Have a look at this video I found on the Yumchaheroes website.
